If we would have known...

If you would have known what you know now 10 years ago, is it possible that you would have done things differently back then?

This definitely is a positive for me. In April 2020, I will be running my business for 10 years. ONE DECADE!!!

I realised that, as Members asked me about how to build a business while enjoying life, there is so much knowhow that turns everything upside down. That is, for the better!

  • How we 'spend' our time... And how we can 'invest' it instead.
  • What we can leverage, automate, streamline and delegate...
  • How we create freedom thanks to multiple income streams...
  • What incredible technologies are available to make life easy...
  • How to avoid costly mistakes... And the realisation that there is always a price to pay.
  • What not to do, and what to start sooner...
  • And the list goes on and on.

It is such a big topic. And I realise that people often buy themselves a job.

There is nothing glamours in doing so.

Your marketing SUCKS!

I'm not being rude here. It's just a fact if you don't get this right.

While I was working with a sales team yesterday, it occurred to me how much people are hard wired to market their message, communicate with other humans and network for business purposes in a way that TOTALLY alienates the brain.

Have you ever heard of "premature invitation"? 

What it comes down to is us walking over to a stranger at a bar asking him/her to come home with us right away.

If you ever tried this, no matter your personal charm, confidence, sales skills and communication abilities, chances are that you soon learned the hard way - in the face. 

The same way you wouldn't do this to start dating someone you fancy, you wouldn't go for the kill in your marketing messages. 

At least, until you assess how you have been doing it until now...

Goodbye to...

Yesterday, I finished an in-house training session at a client's. I was happy with my delivery and the way the people had engaged during the session and wanted to "spoil myself" afterwards. 

After dinner, I excused myself from my family for 45 minutes, jumped in my car and drove to my favourite gelato place. Those flavours seemed so divine while I was savouring them!

And what a turnaround at night! My brain was fired up. I went to bed late. Spend time on my computer. I had a hard time sleeping. 

While I usually jump out of the bed ready to seize the day, I felt sluggish, tired and slept in... 

This is NOT what high performance looks like. It made me realise that our energy reflects our previous actions.

When we do something that lifts our energy, we are guaranteed of the result. Equally, when we eat carbohydrates and refined sugar for dinner, chances are that it will affect our sleep and therefore our energy the next day.

About purpose

"Why do people do what they do?"

Ever since I went to uni to become a psychologist, I've had this question top of mind. I wanted to decipher the human mind. 

Nowadays people often ask me something similar, albeit more personal: 

"How do I figure out what my purpose is?" 

Let's admit it, we all go through phases of maximum motivation and moments of despair. 

In the former case we have a high sense of purpose, we enjoy high levels of energy and are geared to taking action. 

In the latter case, we lack a sense of direction, our energy is deflated and we keep to ourselves. 

While we are proactive and get things done in one state, we are reactive and procrastinate in the other. 

Same person - yet a different dynamic! 

Why?

We're back to the topic of having a clear purpose. 

With it, the world is our oyster. We naturally are poised and have a "can do" attitude. Nothing seems too major. 

Without it, we feel like a mess. We're missing...

As I said, it's different.

As you might remember, I am taking time off from hosting events so that I can invest time elsewhere.

Today, I am lifting the curtain to something different that is really exciting.

If you have ever seen me live on stage, you know that I absolutely LOVE training people. 

The reason I do is because it rings true to my values of making a difference in people's lives and businesses, and doing it at scale. 

By now, I have personally trained and coached over 5,000 people face-to-face in 16 countries. Talking digital, that number explodes to over 146,000 people in 96 countries. Amazing!

It is clear to me that people want to live more inspired lives, do more what they love doing, and have the freedom to choose. 

It is also clear that people lack clarity about what it is they want (exactly), how to bring it about, and how to deal with challenges along the way. 

Not only do they value having a plan, they love having someone they trust on their side to see it through...

Looking in the rearview mirror

If you were to look in the rearview mirror of your life and business, what would you see?

I'm not trying to make you feel bad just for the sake of it.

Rather, by being honest with yourself, you can make different decisions today.

Last week, a person who is more passionate about life and personal development than most people I know, asked me what the #1 success habit is. 

She came from the angle that, as we get busy in our professional and personal life, we tend to cut corners to fit as much in as we can.

There is not enough time for everything, so we pick, choose and drop.

It's worth asking ourselves: "What sets us up for a great day - every day?"

Is "helping" a dirty word?

 

 

Often when we talk about selling, people cringe because the word triggers negative connotations for them. And it's justified when salespeople are being sleazy and take clients for a ride. 

On the other hand, I know a great deal of salespeople who love their clients and have their back. They are providing value adding services, help customers to invest in them so they can enjoy the many benefits and therefore "help". 

"Selling" is not required as long as we help to uncover needs and wants, then show clients relevant ways to address them, and make them feel comfortable about making a decision. There is no strict selling when we find out what it is a client wants, and then give exactly that to them. 

In this approach, selling is caring.
