As I am preparing for an upcoming webinar, I cannot but think about self-sabotaging thoughts and feelings in people.
What I mean is this: as soon as people need to charge for their services, their self worth will determine the amount of money they make.
Some people are very comfortable with the notion of money. They feel good about receiving money. They also value what they do and are comfortable about charging a decent amount for it.
Other people, in contrast, lack self esteem. They don't think highly of themselves or their skillset and experience, and as a consequence, UNDERCHARGE.
I think it is sad when knowledgeable, hard working professionals undervalue themselves and sell themselves short.
Not only does a lack of confidence in our own abilities and the work we do lead to less profit per transaction, it also deprives potential clients of trust in our abilities.
Here is the thing: if we don't trust ourselves, how can others ever do? If we don't value ourselves, how can we expect others to ever value us?
(that's why you have a hard time when people ask for discounts)
Also, wealth creation cannot occur UNLESS people believe that they can accumulate money and become financially free. Our self worth thus determines our net worth.
People always find reasons to either loose business, talk themselves out of deals, spend more than they should, or drop their pants and give discounts at their own peril.
These are self sabotaging thoughts and feelings at work.
The good news is that by debunking old treasured beliefs that hold us back, and by building confidence in our own abilities, our business will blossom as we grow on a personal level.
WE come first. Revenue, income, profit etc follow personal expansion.
One quick exercise will show you where your current limiting beliefs are.
If I were to ask you how much you charge per hour, what is the number that you are comfortable with?
Is it $100? $200? $300? $500? $1,000? $5,000? At what point do you start feeling really uncomfortable about the amount of money that you feel you are worthy of per hour?
That number shows the limitations that you accept in your own mind.
