Are you a straight shooter?

Do you prefer straightforward, no fluff, direct talk?

Chances are that you can come across as intimidating, competitive, egotistical, demanding and even aggressive to other people.

This is what we call the high "D" communication style of a "Director".

While it helps to be persistent, goal oriented and fast on taking action, it's a knife that cuts two ways.

Knowing that a country like Australia has roughly 18% of "Directors", it means that your communication style backfires 82% of the time with the general population - assuming that you don't cause friction with other "Directors".

When it cuts that deep that it hurts, it's time to do something differently.

As a leader, you might experience the revolving door with staff coming and going... Costing the business greatly in recruitment fees, marketing and training and development...

In sales, clients will be quick to sign up but take up the cooling off period a lot of the times too because they felt pressured or sold to...

In teams, you will get...

A Bucket Of Brilliance

How much goodness can you handle in business and life?

Last week, I had the pleasure of interviewing 2 members in our Success Community.

Both bring incredible value to the table.

Let me start with Alexi Broikos from Refined Real Estate, a multi-award winning agent that consistently goes above and beyond for his clients.

Put all his accolades aside, and you will find him to be a highly likeable, energetic, caring, authentic and inspiring person.

His team is on fire and going places too.

With good reason.

Learn first hand how Alexi thinks and operates as a leader. Pick up the countless nuggets of gold, because he delivers a "Bucket of Brilliance" to us.

Watch or listen to the episode with Alexi here

Next is Nancy Hoobergs, Senior European Sales Manager of Watkins Wellness. A graduate of our Business Development Accelerator, she shared how the 10-week course has been "game changing" for the entire global sales team.

Game-changing DISC-related events coming up

If an angel knocked your door today to give you the key to unlimited abundance, happiness and ease in your life and business - would you accept it and trust the process?

The reason I ask is because we have the potential to discover something that is of EPIC proportions in terms of the impact it brings.

While many people have heard about DISC, have done an assessment or even attended some training on it before, the reality is that most people scratch the surface with it.

It's like having a $1,400 smart phone and only use it to make calls.

They don't do the tool justice because it remains heavily under-utilised.

Therefore, they don't experience the significant benefits it brings to them as

  • an inspiring leader of people
  • a trusted advisor to clients
  • a highly respected BDM or sales professional
  • a team player that excels
  • a loving spouse, parent, family member, or friend
  • a happy human being that isn't phased by what others say or do

Some of the best work we have done...

The answers lie within.

When is the last time you did something for YOU?

Let's face it:

We tend to keep ourselves really busy.

We juggle multiple things.

We try to be a great leader, team mate, spouse, parent, sibling, entrepreneur, etc.

Our focus often is on other people and things to do.

We spend a lot of time OUTSIDE and sometimes forget to look after the INSIDE.

We're IN the woods. Not hovering above the woods.

It's a good idea to give space and time to yourself.

No one else will do it for you.

Therefore: invest time, money and effort in YOU.

Top 5 Misconceptions About Communication

Last week we said that communication makes or breaks relationships.

Communication is the glue between people and the better we get at it, the more happy and successful we become.

Another aspect that is easily overlooked is the way we think about it.

As a psychologist working with people all around the world, I have come across 5 misconceptions that undermine people's performance as a leader, a team member, an influencer, or a business person.

Misconceptions stand in the way of positive outcomes.

Misconceptions sabotage people's future.

Misconceptions take away from happiness and create more disconnect, misunderstandings, disagreements and fallouts.

In some extreme cases, I have seen how misconceptions and poor communication led to severe physical illness because the person wasn't enjoying wellness in their relationships.

Let's summarize the top 5 misconceptions:

  1. "Treat people they way you want to be treated." It means that you think there is a "one size fits all" approach. The...

If we would have known...

If you would have known what you know now 10 years ago, is it possible that you would have done things differently back then?

This definitely is a positive for me. In April 2020, I will be running my business for 10 years. ONE DECADE!!!

I realised that, as Members asked me about how to build a business while enjoying life, there is so much knowhow that turns everything upside down. That is, for the better!

  • How we 'spend' our time... And how we can 'invest' it instead.
  • What we can leverage, automate, streamline and delegate...
  • How we create freedom thanks to multiple income streams...
  • What incredible technologies are available to make life easy...
  • How to avoid costly mistakes... And the realisation that there is always a price to pay.
  • What not to do, and what to start sooner...
  • And the list goes on and on.

It is such a big topic. And I realise that people often buy themselves a job.

There is nothing glamours in doing so.

I also am well aware that people often pursue...

About purpose

"Why do people do what they do?"

Ever since I went to uni to become a psychologist, I've had this question top of mind. I wanted to decipher the human mind.

Nowadays people often ask me something similar, albeit more personal:

"How do I figure out what my purpose is?"

Let's admit it, we all go through phases of maximum motivation and moments of despair.

In the former case we have a high sense of purpose, we enjoy high levels of energy and are geared to taking action.

In the latter case, we lack a sense of direction, our energy is deflated and we keep to ourselves.

While we are proactive and get things done in one state, we are reactive and procrastinate in the other.

Same person - yet a different dynamic!

Why?

We're back to the topic of having a clear purpose.

With it, the world is our oyster. We naturally are poised and have a "can do" attitude. Nothing seems too major.

Without it, we feel like a mess. We're missing...
