Activating Your Personal Power

Do people ever compliment you on your energy?

Do you find it easy to hold your ground and stand up for yourself without becoming rude or aggressive?

What about negotiating... Do you do so with confidence and a positive outcome most of the time?

There is one thing that underpins all of them: personal power.

You either have it or you give your power away.

I remember this occasion where I shaped my destiny with one personal choice I made.

It goes back many years. I was in the car with my uncle. He was grooming me to take over the family business from him.

The problem was...

I didn't like how he treated people, especially my mother (his sister). He  was full of contempt.

In addition, he was extremely manipulative. I knew that I would become a puppet of his so that he could still keep control.

That day in the car, I said to him "Uncle Jan, I will create my own future. I won't take over the family business."

There. I said it.

In some respect, it pained me to say so...

The answers lie within.

When is the last time you did something for YOU?

Let's face it:

We tend to keep ourselves really busy.

We juggle multiple things.

We try to be a great leader, team mate, spouse, parent, sibling, entrepreneur, etc.

Our focus often is on other people and things to do.

We spend a lot of time OUTSIDE and sometimes forget to look after the INSIDE.

We're IN the woods. Not hovering above the woods.

It's a good idea to give space and time to yourself.

No one else will do it for you.

Therefore: invest time, money and effort in YOU.

Covid and Self-Control

As I was looking to share a great message with you from my YouTube channel, I stumbled across a short livestream I did last January...

It was on the topic of Covid and how it affects our self-control.

It's interesting... Personally, I retook my emotional intelligence assessment to see how I had done since the first time two years prior.

I wanted to understand whether my EQ quadrants and subcategories had gone up, down or stayed equal.

So fascinating what resulted!

In the video below, I'll share exactly what came out along with 3 valuable lessons that you can apply in your life.

And to spice it up even more: SURPRISE, SURPRISE!

I'll make another valuable prize available for those people who engage in the comments below the video as I mentioned.

The lucky winner will be drawn Monday.

Watch the video here now and leave me a comment

(you got to be in it to win it :)

Oh... before I forget...

Letting go

We are moving into a really special time. And I am not referring to Christmas or New Year.

What we are talking about is the weeks prior to the festive season.

Reason being: the next three weeks is where you make your bed for 2022.

What will happen in 2022 largely relies on the actions you take NOW.

One of those actions, along with reflection and planning, is letting go.

All the coaching calls that I have done over the past 11 months clearly show to me that people are holding on to negative sentiment of some kind.

Trauma, disappointment, loss, pain, grudges... you name it.

The thing is: from an energetic perspective, none of them is uplifting, energising or inspiring.

THEY ALL DRAIN YOUR SYSTEM.

How can you show up at your best if you allow negativity to drag you down?

How can you transcend mediocrity and reach for the stars instead?

The answer is: it starts by giving yourself permission to do something extraordinary on planet earth.

The fact is that you have your special...

About purpose

"Why do people do what they do?"

Ever since I went to uni to become a psychologist, I've had this question top of mind. I wanted to decipher the human mind.

Nowadays people often ask me something similar, albeit more personal:

"How do I figure out what my purpose is?"

Let's admit it, we all go through phases of maximum motivation and moments of despair.

In the former case we have a high sense of purpose, we enjoy high levels of energy and are geared to taking action.

In the latter case, we lack a sense of direction, our energy is deflated and we keep to ourselves.

While we are proactive and get things done in one state, we are reactive and procrastinate in the other.

Same person - yet a different dynamic!

Why?

We're back to the topic of having a clear purpose.

With it, the world is our oyster. We naturally are poised and have a "can do" attitude. Nothing seems too major.

Without it, we feel like a mess. We're missing...

Your choices

A friend of mine has wonderful advice. It goes like “Give yourself permission to do something extraordinary while on planet earth.”

Wise words by Dr John Demartini.

It comes down to a fundamental challenge that we all face in one area or another: people have a tendency to hold themselves back out of fear of some kind.

Fear of being rejected in a relationship; fear of having a go at an entrepreneurial venture because of the perceived ‘risks’ involved; fear of the unknown and therefore refrain from traveling; fear of public speaking…

We are our own worst critic.

On the flipside: we also are our own best cheerleader.

What if you’d start giving yourself permission to shine exactly in those areas that you previously held yourself back in?

This brings me to secret tool number three: your choices.

No one else decides where to take your life or your career but you.

No one else creates your future but you.

If your past is not as satisfying as you would...
