Getting uncomfortable intentionally

How often do you push yourself beyond your comfort zone?

This picture captures me at a business retreat overseas, collaborating with a group of strangers to explore AI. We were thrown into the deep end—figuring things out as we went. It was stressful. It was exciting. It was challenging.

But here’s the thing: no massive growth comes from doing the same things the same way. If you want to break through limits, you’ve got to break old habits.

There’s linear growth, and then there’s exponential growth. They are not the same. And if you’re after real impact—personally and professionally—you need to stretch your thinking and doing.

When you immerse yourself in new experiences with the right guidance, five powerful things happen:

1️⃣ You induce creativity in your outlook – Exposure to new environments and ideas helps you see solutions you never considered before.
2️⃣ You extend your professional network – The right rooms introduce you to the right people, opening doors you didn’t know ex...

The second billionaire I met

When a self-made multi-billionaire shares his story, you pay attention.

Jack Cowin, Founder of the iconic Hungry Jacks, shared the following with us at the Forbes Icons and Investors Summit in Sydney:

  • Jack started his remarkable entrepreneurial journey at age 25 when he got 30 Canadian people to lend him $10,000 each to buy his first franchise.

  • It's a team effort. You don't do it on your own.
  • Recognise the talent of people that can work together.
  • As an entrepreneur, figure out what you are good at and hire great people that can do the rest.
  • Make sure you ENJOY what you do. "Life is an adventure".
  • Keep being curious. (Jack spent the whole day with us and took notes ferociously even at 82 years of age and billions behind him)

We made it happen and took a calculated risk with a new event that brought fresh content as a conversation starter centred around a bold topic such as exponential growth.

"What will it take for your business to grow exponentially in the months and years ahead?"

"Who do you have to become as a leader?"

Questions like these kept us busy...

Instead of the retreat being set up as a seminar or conference, we learned that people value peer-to-peer learning and a safe environment with robust debates in which fellow entrepreneurs challenge each other and bounce ideas of each other.
